Suicide is a big deal. It’s important to me because it’s some­thing that is usually preventable. It’s also a topic that seems to bring out the worst in people as demon­strated by some of the commenters in this blog post I read today.

Here in the United States, every sixteen minutes, another life is exter­mi­nated by means of suicide. That comes out to more than 32,000 people. Why do people commit suicide?
