I finally splurged on a Spyder3Pro (S3P1000) to calibrate my Dell 2408FPW. Gone is the green cast. I am now fully confident in the fidelity of my monitor’s picture quality. I ended up getting the Spyder3Probecause I did a little looking around and found that I couldn’t go for the cheaper versions because the 2408 is a wide gamut display.

The calibration process was not as lengthy as I thought it would be and less complicated than I expected. Just follow the on screen prompts, let it do it’s magic, and presto, you’re configured to use the generated ICC file. Just to make sure you’re viewing pictures in Firefox with your brand spanking new calibrated colors, type “about:config” in your URL bar, search for color, and head down to gfx.color_management.display_profile. Find your most current ICM file in the directory “C:Windowssystem32spooldriverscolor” (at least that’s what it is for me in Vista x64) and paste the path into Firefox.

Now, I just have to find out if my color management is being used when I’m gaming…
