Desiree Jennings went to get a flu shot. Then she got dystonia from it. It’s a terribly sad story. She had the courage and moxie to go on national television for interviews and show the world whatthe flu shot did to her.
You read the descriptions of what happens: she can only walk backwards, and her speech is affected. It sounds curiously amusing when you read it. But when you actually watch the news clip, it’s not so funny all of a sudden.
Then you have these people making fun of Ms. Jennings, adding a soundtrack to her seizures, synchronizing music with her movements. Do people have no respect? I mean, I must admit that I laughed at these silly videos, but only briefly. Shame on these people for making the videos.
It’s not like I haven’t got a sense of humor…I did laugh at the clip (though I am notoriously easy to humor) and it’s not like I live life not having ever smiled. All the same, where are people’s sense of discretion? It’s distasteful humor at best. It makes me sad that this lady became afflicted with dystonia, especially after having lived a full life before. And it makes me even more sad that there are people out there who don’t have any respect or sense of decency.P.S. I totally ripped off this post’s title from Spicy Vampire. Thanks for the headline inspiration @spicy_vampire!
