WORK IN PROGRESS

INT. ARNOLD’S DRIVE-IN

FONZI is asking Howard Cunningham, Richie’s father to discipline his young cousin Spike, who recently broke into Arnold’s Drive-In and burglarized the place. (not a transcript)

HOWARD

It’s not from an occasional peptalk. No, it comes with years of living with him. Being an example. Building up a long lasting relationship. Besides, I’ll tell you something else, Spike won’t listen to me. He doesn’t respect me. If Spike’s got any magical speech coming to him Fonzi, it’s coming from you because he’s the only one you respect.

See, being a father is based on respect and being an example.

I also liked this bit from earlier in the episode (03×22).

INT. ARNOLD’S DRIVE-IN

FONZI

I do a million favors for this man, a million favors, and now I am a bank. Listen, the Fonz just gives and gives and gives, and then, I ask for ONE favor, right? One favor. And what is it? Off to Chicago.

RICHIE

Yeah, I feel bad about it. Think you could make it a twenty?

Reminds me of me…
